The 19-year-old singer rushed back to the UK yesterday to make it to her funeral.
The teen heartthrob will miss several dates on the tour, where the boy band are supporting US group Big Time Rush.
Condolences: Bandmate Harry Styles announced the news over TwitterHarry Styles announced the news on Twitter last night. He tweeted: 'Zayn has suffered a loss in his family & has had to go home for a few days so won't be at our next shows in the US.
'Our thoughts are with him and his family at this sad time.'
Bandmate Niall Horan is believed to be taking over Zayn's singing parts during his absence.

Although he didn't reference the death directly on his Twitter page, Zayn did retweet a message from a fan which read: "God has no Phone, but I talk to him. He has no Facebook, but he is still my friend. He does not have a twitter, but I still follow him. (sic)'
